I used the search function eight ways to Sunday and did not find anything current thread wise about the free franks of wives of Presidents in or after holding office [For regulations see https://www.stampcommunity.org/topi...PIC_ID=23358 ]. Same with the plus a nickel covers which refer to a postage due penalty of five cents in addition to the other postage due in effect only during the 31 days of July 1958 on domestic mail matter.

So here is a new thread to correct that lack of information in both areas. For those who think postal history needs stamps to be on a stamp forum this thread will have some stamped items. Show one topic or the other and of course both together would be best. Yeah, like those exist...

One Final Request:

So others can search this later for examples please label your posted items --

For the penalty covers use, "Plus a nickel" as they are generally known.

As to the First Ladies and Widows...

Name of wife, e.g. Anna Eleanor Roosevelt; with the proper attribute, first lady or widow.

Or at least the last name, e.g Roosevelt; with attribute.

Now I will start and put search information below the image as a live example.

Widow Anna Eleanor Roosevelt

Plus a nickel

First Ladies and the "due + 5" items merit separate threads, with this card in both of them. IMO.

You may be right, but this "combined" thread will likely be quite short even including both subjects.

This territory cover thread http://goscf.com/t/20687&whichpage=8 has a territory usage of plus a nickel.

I have several of both, which is why I suggested 2 threads. Neither belongs in a combined thread.
