On November 23, 2004 South Africa issued a minisheet of ten different self-adhesive, domestic letter rate stamps commemorating the 10th anniversary of the country's national police. One of the stamps (Sc #1344d) from this sheet recognizes forensic science and it depicts a microscope.  |

This 30 fr value (Sc #762) of France is from the March 5, 1955 French Inventors and Researchers set of six stamps. Stamp depicts engineer and industrialist Hilaire Bernigaud de Chardonnet (1839-1924) and a microscope. Chardonnet invented a synthetic silk material. From wikipedia, "He called his new invention 'Chardonnet silk' and displayed it in the Paris Exhibition of 1889. Unfortunately, Charbonnet's material was extremely flammable, and was subsequently replaced with other, more stable materials"  |
