On May 29, 1989 Chilec issued this 150 peso stamp (Sc #836) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Chilean Antarctic Institute. A surveyor using a theodolite is shown on the stamp.  |

On March 25, 2020 Gibraltar issued a three-stamp "Famous Persons" set showing a scientist, a social reformer and a musical composer. The 80p value (Sc #1748) of this set commemorates the birth centenary of biologist and chemist Rosalind Franklin (1920-1958). From wikipedia, "Rosalind Elsie Franklin was an English chemist and x-ray crystallographer whose work was central to the understanding of the molecular structure of DNA, RNA, viruses, coal and graphite...Her contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA were largely unrecognized during her life."  |
