1959 Life Magazine Stamps Of The World Issue

Does anyone have or know of a listing of the beautiful mostly engraved stamps featured in this issue of life magazine? I have seen it briefly nut do not own a copy or know its exact issue date. Thanks.

There are two Life covers, see illustrations for dates:

Thanks for the information. Unless someone else has already done this it look like my next step is to develop a list of the stamps featured in each issue.

The pages inside (pp 83-89) look like a Siegel catalog, all higher end stuff, and identified.

I can help you in that quest,
mind you, I had the devil finding it in my database,
"Life" brought up squillions of records "wildlife" etc

It helps me to be specific when naming files

If you use the link posted by tsmatx to google books on page 102 you will find the list posted above by rod222. However also on that page is the cover photo with each individual stamp labeled by number to correspond to the text list:



Now while the cover is cute, the good stamps and point of the story begins on page 83 and runs through page 89. If you owned just a quarter of those stamps, you could sell half and still have a comfortable retirement while enjoying the others.

The American Philatelist Volume 73, Page 284 carries an article about the 11-30-1959 Life Magazine issue.

Since the 1959 LIFE magazine focuses on Laos philately, I have a hard copy of it. If interested, I can scan it (although not easy, since page frames are larger than my scanner frame) and send you or post here. I can also send all high resolution scans of the Lao stamps depicted in this magazine. Regards

The rest of the pages, focus on stamp of Laos and Marc Leguay, the designer of Lao stamps, I have scanned in high resolution. I will post them next time.

Thanks to all for sharing these images and information. The May 3, 1954 issue is the ont that peeked my interest. Interesting to see the other issues, too.

I try to find a pdf version, just to keep a digital copy, but unfortunately I couldn't find anything...
