Interesting differences between this Meekatharra postmark and CDS D26 from Western Australian Postal Markings Illustrated. The dateline is lower relative to the town name and the last A of Meekatharra is a different shape. |

Rod222, lots of other Meekatharra cancellers but D26 is the closest match. |

FDS, Given the extreme similarity of the town font, together with the 53 year term of usage, I would suggest the same hammer with an updated slug set insertion.
In the 1970's I passed through Meekatharra often, there is not much there, Population minimal, memories of hot donga sleeping quarters, the ubiquitous bitter aroma of airconditioned desert accommodation, and hundreds of geckoes around the ceiling light globes.
You can always send the image to the WA Study group, in Perth.

Today I will show this WA stamp in my collection, and I hope to learn more about the cancel: SHIP MAIL - PERTH. I searched SCF, but no help. Comments welcome, Linus |

Apparently there is a 'Postal markings compendium 2006-7 for WA - with rarity guide', by Goulder, J & R, 2007, self-published
and
'Western Australia postal markings compendium' by Robin & Judith Goulder, 3rd edition, 2010 |

Does anyone have information on the period of usage of this 'Palace Hotel' hammer? This cancel is dated June 26, 1912. |

Does anyone know how to purchase 'Postal markings compendium 2006-7 for WA - with rarity guide' or 'Western Australia postal markings compendium' by Robin & Judith Goulder (the books mentioned several couple posts up)?
I tried to email them awhile ago using some email addresses I found in a forum thread, but never got a response. |

Maybe the Western Australia Study Group could help? Failing which, the Australian States Study Circle? |
