I picked up a nice collection of these last weekend.
Does anyone know where I might find more info about these.
Do they even qualify as a stamp ? I figured Revenue stamps would be the best place to ask.

I collect them also, They are inexpensive NY State Stock transfer stamps as the name says:-)
See the book "Intro. to US Revenue Stamps" by Friedberg, or any of the many web sites discussing them. I am not expert, I just like them.

You might be interested in the "State Revenue Society." Google away!
I belong to the "American Revenue Association" myself.

New York State stock transfer stamps are a very large area to collect, and there are certainly people who do so. The state revenue catalog has 7 pages of listings.

For those interested in collecting state revenues, the link to the State Revenue Society website:

SRS dues are only $17.50 a year. The SRS has a quarterly newsletter and hosts an auction most quarters for members only. The annual dues are a bargain!

Collecting NY Stock Transfers is more difficult than you may think. There are several series and varieties, to include the usual proofs, specimens, double transfers, imperfs, etc.

Kurt Lange's website (listed in John's comment) does a great job of illustrating them, and he has album pages for sale for those who would like to pursue these omnipresent stamps!

Not my revenue area, but his price on those album pages is eminently reasonable, IMO. For custom album pages printed in color, he really could be charging a lot more. Kudos to him.
