The word I heard is Scott English will announce his pending departure at this year's (2023) GASS. The reason given is a return to politics, his prior employment, but this time with perhaps a run himself in Maryland.
If so, I wish him well after 8 years at the APS.
The next question is, "When will the recruitment of a replacement start?"

I had not heard. Can you give a clue on sources?
A good replacement could be hard to find.
There is an Ask any Question for the APS Directors coming up soon. |

Thanks for not bothering to note that Scott English is the Executive Director of the American Philatelic Society. |

I started this thread and I am enjoying all attempts to derail it!!!!! Me, my intent was to alert folks the rumor (news perhaps) is out there; for good or bad and perhaps sooner than planned, the APS needs to get in front of this. Quote: I would not expect him to comment. Nor I. Nor do I want him to comment before he is ready, but he should know if true, something is leaking. Now if untrue the denials would be fast and furious. But if possible (i.e. being considered) or true (will be announce for certain), then I would not expect any personal comment before its time. Nor would I except a comment from anyone holding elected APS office or employed by the APS. Quote: Can you give a clue on sources? Yes I can and no I won't . BUT I will say WESTPEX was involved . |

PP, Like you, I believe that Scott is far too of an experienced politician to be trolled into replying to a post on social media. And although not as skilled as Scott at managing media optics, I assume (like you) that the APS BOD members/staff would also know better than to respond.
I also would assume that APS already knows. Unless the person you heard this from is sharing a bed with Scott, it does not seem logical to me that Scott would tell others without understanding that this is the kind of news that would 'make the rounds'. The obvious justification for the rumor spreaders being 'oh my, I have share this juicy info for the good of the APS'. Don |

Yes, it is also true that I will be running against Mr. English in Maryland. My platform will revolve around lots of free stuff for everyone and making the rich (undefined) pay "their fair share" (undefined) Stay tuned!!!! |
