In the last 2.5 weeks, 5 members between the two forums have gotten stuck in a loop when logging in. They log in, it says "successful," then the page refreshes, and they are logged out again.

In all cases, clearing the site cache and cookies fixed the issue immediately.

I'm one of those, I'll see if I can clear cache and cookies specific to the site. I try to avoid clearing cache and cookies. My position has always been that's it's the website's responsibility to do that or provide the specific option. I don't recall seeing a way to do that from a browser specific to a site, but maybe things have changed since last I looked into that.

I too had the issue but did not report it. In my case I was in the loop and later without taking any steps, could log in and remained logged in for some time (hours or days) before the loop returned. I eventually cleared some of my browser, but not any cookies from SCF. At the time it did not change my log in status nor have I been forced to log in again.

In my part of the internet speeds vary considerably, when it has been quite slow and the loop would arise when page loading was very slow.

Lastly, I never log out on my own. I stay logged in 24/7 until some external event logs me off.

Edit: I read the thread about this issue under the support section; so I will add. I use the current version of Firefox on a Thinkpad laptop running windows 10. Has a terabyte of storage but MS will not allow it to upgrade to 11. I own no pad and I do not access SCF on my somewhat smart phone.

I cleared the cookies on my Edge browser and the problem is gone.

Now I have new issue. The last 100 topics are dead. Clicking on any of them does nothing.

NEW ISSUE occurred once and then replicated:

I run my new posts at the 6 hour choice. I wanted to look for responses to an older post so I reset the time choice to "yesterday" and repeatedly go the "nothing to look at" desert splash page. The first time the page opened in a new tab, the second it opened in the same tab. On both tabs, the laptop back button returned me to the forum with me still being logged in and allowing this post. (duh).

Edit: Switching from 6 hours to "two days" caused no issues.

FYI. I deleted all Settings / Privacy and security / Third-party cookies section "site data and permissions" for stampcommunity.org in my Chrome browser settings. All has been well since.

rogdcam, are you still having this issue?

Now I have new issue. The last 100 topics are dead. Clicking on any of them does nothing.

This has been intermittent for me for the last few weeks, and I think I have tracked it down to be related to Ads. The section heading "View Last 100 Active Topics" link is clickable, but none of the links below it are clickable. When I move the mouse around the screen, the arrow cursor changes to a finger when I hover over "View Last 100 Active Topics" meaning that it is clickable, but hovering over any of the "links" in the list, the arrow cursor does not change, and none of the links are clickable.

When first opening a page, sometimes all of the links work, but then after a while (after the ads rotate), the links stop working. On some occasions, the top dozen or so links in the list are still clickable, and the rest are not. Coincidentally, the point at where the links stop working is aligned with the bottom of a banner ad to the right! Pictures below.

The only way I am able to navigate the links reliably is to reload the page (control-R) and quickly click on a topic link, before the first ad has loaded and drawn. If I wait even a second, it is sometimes too late and the links are already dead.

I usually use Chrome on Mac OS. I do not recall seeing this with Safari on Mac OS.

Here is an example showing when the links are intermittent.
Initially, the link pointed to in green and all the ones below it are clickable (see the white "hand/finger" cursor, indicating this is a clickable link):

But this link pointed to in green, and all the ones above it are not clickable (see the black "arrow" cursor, indicating there is not a clickable hyperlink here):

A few minutes later all the ads rotate, and there is no longer an ad to the right of the list of topics. Now, none of the links are clickable, even the ones that were clickable a moment ago.

This has the same symptoms that I remember from my days of early HTML, where this would happen if an ad or other content on the page has an opening anchor tag <A> and there is no matching close anchor tag </A>, but that is probably an oversimplification of what is going on here.

rogdcam, are the links still broken for you, and does the same happen with all browsers?

Edit: formatting.

Zebra - It still happens intermittently on both Edge and Safari. I have never had some links clickable above a given point. All go dead in the last 100 new and last 100 active sections. They become operable again as I use the forum. Interesting point on the ads and I will keep an eye on that.

I haven't been able to replicate the issue either. For me, on Brave/Chrome/Safari/Firefox, the ads are always in divs above and below the div containing the View Last 100 Topics lists, not next to them. I've cycled through hundreds of pages and hundreds of ads, and never had one served in that position.

Can you include your OS, browser version, and screen resolution? That may help in replicating the problem.

I have been experiencing the same issue with Edge and Chrome on two different laptops, and on a Samsung S24 phone for about a week. Today, it looks like the problem has passed.

I had the same issue on my iPad and iPhone for the last few days. I would be able to click on lower topics, but not some upper ones. If I rotate my screen, it usually works, but sometimes doesn't. A smidge annoying, but it eventually works itself out.

Well, yesterday, I added a hard line break (clear all) after the list. Although I never experienced it at all, it may have been an erroneous invisible part of the ad floating over the list.

Those who have no idea what I'm talking about just disregard me.
