Quote: off-center, You are buying the cancel, not really the stamp. Of course you will have a reason to consider an up grade when you see the next 114 with a green masonic cancel. Should not be a problem as long as you are under the age of 30. Edited to add: Somewhere Clyde Jennings is smiling. |

Hype version: OMG it's a green cancel of a negative Masonic symbol - rare one of a kind find - bid now before it's too late!!!! |

Counting yours, there are 7 green cancel 114s, not counting the claimed as green wishful thinking listings. They run as high as $400 and surprisingly the two with certs verifying the color green are on the low price end, currently only 10 x your current bid of $11 and change.
Edit to add missing "r" to word. |

I have more than 500 US 114 3c pictorial stamps, organized by used/unused, EFOs, essays, proofs, multiples, covers, cancellations, and so-on. So, yes, I'm bidding on cancellations - as do a great many other collectors. Perhaps we should throw out all references to first day covers, earliest known uses, plate positions, and the rest because you want to reduce everything to the lowest common denominator?
These snarky comments have no place in philately or this site.
Brian
Edit: I do not have any green cancellations in my collection because they are uncommon and highly sought after. The OP's stamp is going to fetch a lot of money. |

Quote: These snarky comments have no place in philately or this site. I do not see any snarky comments. I would welcome you pointing one or more out. Do you know one of the exhibits my late friend Clyde Jennings showed? Now if you truly are looking for a green cancel on a 114, based upon the list of what you own regarding 114s, one of the green cancels with a certificate, if not all of them with or without certificate, should be in your reach. Of course I understand, "reach" can vary for time to time or following some other great purchase. (Search "114 green" and scroll. I think you will be pleased with the results) On another subject , You want snark, here is snark: It is you and others like you that in spite of my half century love of 114s I have never tried to collect them in depth, especially on cover. Edited to add the real reason I did not try 114s in depth: 3026-HR Harmer Sale 3026, 2014 year I believe. Was not relatively cheaper (compared to income) back in the late 1970s thanks to collectors such as Ryohei Ishikawa. |

You do know the OP who mentioned the stamp is off center, which is like mentioning the British Guiana 1c magenta has clipped corners, is the seller of the item on ebay? Edit for: [P.S Brian, do you or did you teach Judo in NO, LA, before yours became a swimming dojo? -- 'cause the collector I am thinking of collected 114s.] |

Thanks for equating this stamp with the British Guiana 1c! Everyone chill - this is a sales thread not fight club. |

Quote: You are buying the cancel, not really the stamp. For clarification to those still l;earning but reading this thread: Per Scott US Specialized 2025, the run of the mill, basic used 114 lists at $30.00 (VF condition of course) and only $10 for fine with no lower pricing for less than fine centering. However, the green cancel lists as +$300 in addition to the stamp's value. Only two cancel types are more, excluding the "--" listed examples. As of the moment, 6 bidders, 13 bids. As of edit, 7 bidders, 18 bids. |
