I have a 1998 Canadian Wildlife Cover that has a Colorano Silk image attached which is BOGUS as Colorano Silk Covers were discontinued in Canada in 1984. Clearly this cover was created to deceive an unaware buyer! There are other anomalies that are equally disturbing although the stamp appears to be genuine, the cancel is completely BOGUS as well. I reached out to the Canadian Post Authority with this find. As I have read in this forum, this could be a valued item. Could someone weigh in on this and give me direction? Photographs attached.

"D'emission" is misspelled. Not likely Canada Post would make this error.

What was the left side description you cut off in the first post. You do not show the entire cover.

Why would someone go to the expense of fabricating such a cachet? It's not an insignificant undertaking.

First Day Covers generally sell for modest money and are typically not in demand much anymore, so to make just a few bucks someone went to all this trouble to produce a fake cover? I don't know whether to admire the effort to create something nearly worthless like a model of a battleship made out of toothpicks or to just wonder if they are simply out of their minds.

And, as Germania points out, the clueless misspelling of "emission" with two "m's" is beyond belief. Who is so lazy that after going to this much trouble, they couldn't be bothered to at least check for the correct spelling?

How do you know it's a Colorano image or envelope? Does it say that somewhere? Did they cut it off and repaste it? What gives here?

And one more thing -- why do you say the cancel is fake? What tells you that?

Given my question about what was cutoff in the incomplete image of the cover, I doubt it would be much use to contact Mystic who bought and have the archives of Colorano. I also agree with the question regarding your dismissal of the cancel. Likewise the Canadian Post Authority should have little if any information about your find.

And were was that which you read?

As an aside, "BOGUS" used twice does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about the seriousness nor sincerity of the post but I am still here for the ride.

There is nothing "bogus" about the cancel or anything else. There are many cover examples on ebay right now where you can see the base cover with the addition of various cache's on the left hand side. Fleetwood cachets are common but doubtless others jumped in the private issue "collectible" pool.

Nothing to see here.
