Semi-postal engraved art stamps, designed and engraved by Jules Piel and issued by France on December 19, 1955 to raise donations to the Red Cross: - The child in the cage, by Jean-Baptiste Pigalle (1714 – 1785). - The child with a goose, Greek statue by the Greek sculptor Boethos of Chalcedon, 200-150 BCE. The statue of the Louvre museum, which I assume depicted on the stamp, is a Roman copy of it. |

CEDROS B OC 21 15 TRINIDAD TRINIDAD & TOBAGO number 9 (STAMPWORLD online catalogue) issued in 1915, an overprint of stamp number 2 for T&T. The bonus is the Trinidad RED CROSS SOCIETY label. Spanish sailors name the area after the cedar trees that once stood there. It is located in the south-west of the island. So, 1915 is pretty early so far as Red Cross or Red Crescent stamps go. I did not see another posting for this Trinidad pair on the 35 preceding pages, but I did see a similar one of this period for Grenada. Great postings people! |

Found this today on that ebay site. I was looking for postally used copies of French colonies stamps when I came across this in a section for Martinique. . It was posted by the Croix-Rouge Francaise Comite de la Martinique at Fort of France, on February 6, 1943. It arrived at the national headquarters of the American Red Cross in Washington D.C. on March 2, 1943. Just something different. |

COTE D'IVOIRE FUNDRAISER - July 13-14, 1945 You are looking at the back side of a post card that was produced in 1945 at Abidjan to raise funds for the local Red Cross. They created 2000 of these which were sold for 50 francs each. It is eye catching. |

Semi-postal engraved art stamps, designed and engraved by Jules Piel and issued by France on December 19, 1957 to raise donations to the Red Cross. Etchings by Jacques Callot (c.#8201;1592 – 1635), a baroque printmaker and draftsman from the Duchy of Lorraine. He made more than 1,400 etchings that chronicled the life of his period, featuring soldiers, clowns, drunkards and beggars as shown on the stamps. |
