10c 1869 pictorial issue (#116) used on a cover from Washington, D.C. to Corsica, addressed to Clara Barton.  Clara Barton was in Europe doing work for the International Red Cross during the Franco-Prussian War in 1869. (This is lot 1139 in the ASDA Mega Event Auction being held June 27-29, 2008.) |

Hi.. Here is a Cinderella issue under the British Mandate of Palestine. I knew nothing about them until Londonbus found a similar item for sale on Obey. The imperf has also lost the red cross.. It was issued to raise money for the St.John Ambulance service.  |
