Nells250 - I'm glad you like them, too. I think that fish often make excellent subjects for the engraver's craft. Here is another fish stamp that I admire: Tarpon (Megalops atlanticus), designed and engraved by Gilbert Aufschneider, and issued by Gabon on July 15, 1964, Scott No. 172.

This post keeps popping up and keeps tempting me to go thematical with fish/ fishing/ fishing lures. Seen a couple ebay lots of 1000 fish related for $40 but not sure if I want to just buy a lot or preverbaly go fishing for specifics. Have a feeling if I start its going to take over for awhile at least. Anyone with a bunch of dups looking for a trade???

Here are images of the three stamps in a airmail set depicting the Coris Clown wrass in three stages of life. These stamps were designed and engraved by Pierre Gandon, and issued for use in New Caledonia on December 6, 1965 to publicize the Nouméa Aquarium, Scott Nos. C41-43.

Humpback anglerfish, aka common black devil (Melanocetus johnsonii), designed and engraved by René Cottet, and issued by People's Republic of Congo on October 20, 1964, Scott No. 120.
