shermae - Glad you liked the Mali fish set. I think you might enjoy viewing this set, too.

Here are images of the four stamps in a set depicting salt water fishes, designed and engraved (except as noted) by French artist Claude Durrens (1921-2003), and issued for use in Saint Pierre & Miquelon on March 7, 1972, Scott Nos. 419-21.

Haddock (Melanogrammus aeglefinus), engraved by Georges Bétemps (1921-1992).


American plaice or sole (Hippoglossoides platessoides).


Deepwater redfish (Sebastes (marinus) mentella).


Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua), engraved by Eugène Lacaque (1914-2005).

Here are images of two stamps depicting women fish-sellers of, respectively, Nazare and Lisbon, designed by Portuguese artist Raquel Roque Gameiro Ottolini (1889-1970), dies engraved by, respectively, Guilherme Augusto Santos and Marcelino Norte, printed by typography (letterpress), and issued by Portugal on April 4, 1941, Scott Nos. 605 & 608.

Here are images of the two stamps in a sea life themed EUROPA set, designed and engraved by French artist Jacky Larrivière (1946- ), and issued by Monaco on May 22, 1986, Scott Nos. 1530 & 1531.

Research vessel, marine life samples and microscope, commemorating the RAMOGE project (acronym for Saint-RAphaël - MOnaco - GEnoa), a nature protection treaty which began with the creation in 1970 of a pilot zone for a campaign against marine pollution in the coastal zone between Saint-Raphaël and Genoa.


National Marine Reserve, man-made habitat and fish.
