Ireland's 2014 set of 8 computer-vended stamps depicting Irish animals and marine life included this item depicting the basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus). The basking shark is the second largest species of fish, with adults reaching a length of 6-8 meters (20-26 feet).

The spiny seahorse (Hippocampus guttulatus) as shown here is one of a set of 8 computer-vended stamps Ireland issued in 2012 as its 3rd series of "Irish animals and marine life". The stamp on the left is the computer-vended stamp. The black "code" information (postage value, stamp machine #, type of service, and vertical 3-digit coil stamp # from roll) are all printed at the time of purchase by a thermal printer.

The stamp on the right is NOT computer-vended postage. It is a special production of Irish Post. It is sold in strips of the 8 different designs with only the larger, single digit number # (1-8) in the lower right corner these stamps. The black "code " information on these stamps was offset printed.

The tompot blenny i(Parablennius gattorugine) is featured on an Irish computer-vended stamp from the 2010 set of 8 "native animals and marine life' series. This small fish (up to 30 cms./1 ft.) can be found in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean area, and into the Black sea. It is characterized by the fringed barbels above the eyes.

The code #11052 indicates the stamp was sold/vended on the 052nd day of 2011, and the cancel shows it was postmarked on that day, 21.2.11.
