the best recommendation would be
IT'S A TRAP! RUN WHILE YOU CAN!
Does anyone know if Deegam is still open?
my last report is from 2011 # 92, and I really haven't needed any more updates.
Still I hope one day to get the updates until 2020 |

You can get Deegam update thru September 2020. Can't get more current than that!

Thank you
well, I already contacted Deegam, they replied that it is possibly a failure when my IP tries to connect with them, and they are going to review it to fix it. I hope.
I haven't sorted my Machins in a long time, I've been finishing my basic stamp albums from other countries and making the wantlist.
Likewise, without a Post Office, there is no way to make trades or purchases.
As a novelty, the 10x magnifying glass is no longer enough for me, I need reading glasses (is it said like this? I use a google translator). |

Its good to hear you are still in the game, Novato. Reading glasses wotk just fine if you have the right magnification.

I was trying to cross reference the varieties of the 2nd Brt Blue between Scott and the printers (if they do correlate). Note SG Concise has assigned a single number 2039 to cover the issue but notes multiple printers: Walsall, Enschede, Questa
Scott lists 3 numbers and uses perf measurements, perf shape, and value thickness as differences which similar to other specialist sources except NONE use perf measurement.
MH292 14 3/4 x 14 / thin value / flat tips with distinct corners MH293 15 x 14 1/4 / thin value (implied) MH294 14 3/4 x 14 / thick value / perf tips have slight arc and rounded at corners -
My question is for those that use Scott, do you have a stamp that has thick values and measures 14 3/4 x 14? I have a thick value but it measures 15x14 1/4. Using sources like Deegam the thick value and the almost U shaped die cuts variety was printed by Questa. Questa was also the only one with a 5mm phosphor band.
I have the Questa printing but it measures 15x14 1/4.
One theory is that the comparison between value thickness only applies between the 14 3/4x 14 samples and Enschede is a wee bit thicker,
If I use this idea and assume the 3 listings match the 3 printers, MH292 - Walsall MH293 - Questa MH294 - Enschede (because value is thicker than Walsall)

What SG calls 15 x 14 is 14 3/4 x 14 according to Deegam. The actual gauge is between 14 3/4 and 15 (horizontal) or 14 and 14 1/4 (vertical). SG's 14, is Deegam's 13 3/4 x 14. Again, it is a question of "in between." The self-adhesives do not have this gauge. There is a 14 x 13 1/2 variety.
For stamps that do not have the security wavy-line iridescent overprints: From Deegam, T3 has thick elements, T1 has thin elements. Walsall and Enschede have T1-values, Questa has T3-values That would suggest MH294 must be Questa.
The flat tips of MH292 suggest Walsall. But, I think assigning MH293 could prove a little more difficult. .N2.23.5 seems not to have the flat perforation tips of N2.23.1. Furthermore, the thickness of the value elements in the Walsall printings varies quite a bit in the Walsall printings. |

Yes, I agree that MH294 should be Questa because of thickness but it does not meet Scott's perf measurements definition.
That is why I am asking for someone to confirm they actually something that meets both the "thick value" and "perf measurement".

I gave up trying to correlate Scott numbers for Machin stamps. However, Jet Stamps published an article titled "Everything You Need to Know About Scott 292/301", which might be helpful, or further muddy the waters.

The top one looks like Enschede (perfs and thin value) and the bottom looks like Walsall from die cuts but looks like a thicker value. |

The site is an excellent effort.
It, however, does not seem to answer the question posed by angore. For the relevant listings, click on the link to 2nd light blue (vertical). There is no mention of perforations at all.
As another example of the limitations of the site: scroll down the list of self-adhesives. You will notice it states whether the stamp exists on Security Backing Paper (SBP). It, however fails to show any of the four varieties that exist. Good enough if you collect used, less helpfull if you collect mint. |
