Here is an image of a stamp depicting modern Alpine skiing pioneer Mathias Zdarsky (1856-1940), designed by Maria Siegl, combined engraved by Gerhart Schmirl (1942- ) and photogravure, and issued by Austria on June 20, 1990 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the skier's death, Scott No. 1511, plus an image of the photograph of Mathias Zdarsky demonstrating his technique which was the model for this stamp's design. - nethryk  |
