While trying to research my Lundy Stamps, I found this older thread. I
only have the two stamps, but both are on this cover. I like how the
cancel also shows the Puffin.

There appears to be two types of this cancel but what is interesting is the date itself.
Your cover has the date...MY 12 30 while on the listed postmarks the day comes before the month.

This letter [internal] was most likely posted by the addressee, although I can find no mention of the name during searches.

The stamps are from the first issue of November 1929, printed by Bradbury Wilkinson in Lithography. Set of 5 although a 6 Puffin Blue exists from a rather strange and unexplained printing run. [Theories abound]

Nice cover. Most covers seen have the Lundy stamps on the back side of the envelope and it's not often one see's an internal 'mailing' !

London,

I thought the same thing. Almost every Lundy cover that I had seen only had Lundy stamps in addition to another country's postage, and usually on the back. I think that Grandma was a member of a stamp collecting club that created items just for collectors, or she was just a worldly woman that knew how to find these things. In any case, it looks like one of the first covers for that issue?

I've always had a soft spot for the first Lundy set. I really like the fact that each stamp has the right number of puffins in the picture to match the face value.

Here for example there's the top half of a puffin on the half puffin stamp and a whole puffin on the one puffin stamp. The six, nine and twelve puffin stamps continue this pattern very nicely.

Me too Nigel.
Most of my Lundy collection has been sold on, but I kept this first set [plus a few other bits] because of it's design and beauty.

Here's the set of five:

The two low values both show constant varieties: "H for L" in the half puffin, and "Line through UF" in the one puffin.
