1900 Württemberg Bisect of 10 pfennig Official Service Stamp on cover tied by postmark from HELDENFINGEN SEP 27 1900. The stamp has the words AMTLICHER VERKEHR diagonally across the design which means Official Business. The stamp was meant to be used by Schools and Municipal mails which were posted free prior to 1875. After 1875 the rate was 5pf for all letters irrespective of the weight.

This letter has a HELDENFINGEN postmark on the back dated the next day SEP 28 1900. The envelope was made from a receipt (Quittung). Small purple Oval handstamp: K. W. GEMEINDE HELDENFIN-GEN means "Royal Württemberg Municipality".

You're welcome Randy. Here's some more! :)

Hopefully no one will mind I resurrect this old thread. :).It's been a little more than a year since I've posted in in, and I'm way behind in my calendar.
A small banknote usage from Arcata, in Humboldt County, Sep 12, 1890

Also Sep 12, from Caspar, Cal in Mendocino Co. Over about 10 years I have found 4 other covers from H B Phillips to Frank Cooper. From Aug 8, 1882 to Sep 27, 1884

Kibesilliah, Mendocino county. Sep 14 1870's

Another of the Phillips/Cooper correspondence. Sep 16, 1884. All the rest of this correspondence bears the double oval town and county postmark, as this one does, Men 510 is rated as scarce.

A scarce Patriotic cover from sent from Artaca Sep 19

Back to Mendocino Co and Kibesillah Sep 19, 1882

An incoming Well Fargo cover to the town of Mendocino on Sep 21, 1887

And a small cover from Ukiah on Sep 21, 1878.

Although in very rough condition, this Sep 27 H B Cal Uniontown (became Arcata) transcontinental cover remains my one of my earliest Humboldt postmarks. Mailed about 4 years after Humboldt county was formed.

Another ( the last of 5) cover from H B Phillips to Frank P Cooper, this one forwarded to back to Caspar. Only a partial strike of Caspar's town and county postmark. But a nice ebay find last year.

My cover for today is a bright yellow penalty cover, a Money Order cover, sent from Rohnervile bearing their second town and county CDS, Williams # Hum4360, a scare postmark.

This post card was sent to Falk from San Jose, and Falk used their CDS as a receiver. But some one inverted the CDS in the device, putting the killer on the wrong side.

For the first day of the month, I have an inter county use; Dyerville to Pepperwood. Looks like the sender couldn't find anything except a blue crayon to address this with.

One hundred and 9 years ago, the postmaster of Loleta canceled this nice little corner card of Dickson & Dickson with Loleta's second CDS (Hum 3220) and sent it on its way to the bank of Eureka in Eureka.
