On June 2 I posted a couple of Commonwealth FDCs from the Coronation of 1953 and mentioned one I had from Norfolk Island. It is posted below but makes no sense as an FDC. The lanscape set was issued on June 10 but in 1947. The 2cnd set of Norfolk Island was also issued on June 10 but a year later than this date. And it's not a coronation FDC. A left over cachet envelope?? Anyway, it is a nice dated cancel. |

I thought this was kind of a neat cancel for the 16th, mostly because of the 2 cent postage owing stamp. I was alive and kicking in Saskatoon at that point in time, though no connection with the sender, (or Uncle Ernie for that matter) but I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that the postman would have stopped at the address, knocked on the door, and collected and documented two pennies. |
