On June 2 I posted a couple of Commonwealth FDCs from the Coronation of 1953 and mentioned one I had from Norfolk Island. It is posted below but makes no sense as an FDC. The lanscape set was issued on June 10 but in 1947. The 2cnd set of Norfolk Island was also issued on June 10 but a year later than this date. And it's not a coronation FDC. A left over cachet envelope?? Anyway, it is a nice dated cancel.

I had to laugh a little when we were speculating on the total number of pages by the end of Dec.

As indicated in my current AUCTION Post - ending Wed 6/15/11 - There are 50 of these lovely covers, all posted June 13, and the display pages to go with. I won't post all I promise, but here are a few for your enjoyment. Check out others on the Auction link.

I thought this was kind of a neat cancel for the 16th, mostly because of the 2 cent postage owing stamp. I was alive and kicking in Saskatoon at that point in time, though no connection with the sender, (or Uncle Ernie for that matter) but I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that the postman would have stopped at the address, knocked on the door, and collected and documented two pennies.

The FDC posted above for Abigail Adams prompts me to share this link about some correspondence that just resurfaced from her in an old desk drawer. While not stamp related, it's still an interesting piece of Americana to be sure:
