In my next series of postings, I will show autographed space covers from the unmanned spacecraft launched over the years. Many of the covers were autographed by the Program Managers and Project Managers. Many of the covers were issued by the Goddard Space Flight Center's Stamp Club. Goddard was involved with the various spacecraft shown on the covers. I hope to get some posted in the next few days. Thank you all for the favorable comments received.

I am going to give you a little background about Goddard Space flight Center (GSFC). GSFC is a major NASA space research laboratory established on May 1, 1959 as NASA's first space flight center. GSFC has the largest combined organization of scientists and engineers dedicated to increasing knowledge of the Earth, the Solar System and the Universe via observations from space. GSFC is a major U.S. laboratory for developing and operating unmanned scientific spacecraft. GSFC scientists can develop and support a mission and GSFC engineers and technicians can design and build the spacecraft for a specific mission. GSFC operates spaceflight tracking and data acquisition networks, develops and maintains advanced space and earth science data information systems. GSFC is named in recognition of Dr. Robert Goddard, the pioneer of modern rocket propulsion in the United States.

Some more background on Goddard Space Flight Center. Goddard Space Flight center was responsible for the management and launch of the Delta launch vehicle. Most of the covers I will show you are Delta launches. Many of these launches were on a cost reimbursable basis for various countries such as Germany, Netherlands, Japanese, European Space Agency, India, Indonesia, Canada and Italy.

John, great piece of history! I will try to follow the thread, unfortunately I am not an autograph nut, having occasional covers signed by ground teams and some others signed by a spacemen. So I can show them here.
