Romy Schneider, Austrian born German film star who achieved
her greatest success in France.
She appeared in a couple of Hollywood movies including
What's New cat? starring Peter O'Toole, Peter Sellers and Woody Allen.

NOTE: I can't believe that the word before cat was censored
by the site here.
The offending word passed the Motion Picture Production Code way back
in 1965 when they were a lot stricter than now.

Austrian stamp issued for the 60th Year of the release
of the 1949 movie The Third Man

One of my all time favourites. What a movie. Wow.
Superb acting by Orson Welles & Joseph Cotten.
And the haunting Harry Lime Theme played on a
zither.

Here is an image of stamp featuring a portrait of Greta Garbo (born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson, 1905-1990), Swedish film actress and international star during Hollywood's silent and classic periods, engraved by Piotr Naszarkowski, and issued by the USA on September 23, 2005 to commemorate Garbo's birth centenary, Scott No. 3943, with a similar design to a joint issue from Sweden, Scott No. 2517a, also engraved by Piotr Naszarkowski (note that gussyboy1 previously posted an image of the USA stamp some four years ago in this thread.) Also, here are images of the two se-tenant booklet stamps honoring Greta Garbo, issued by Sweden on September 23, 2005, Scott Nos 2517a. & 2517b, Facit Nos. 2508 & 2509. In the USA and Sweden photo portrait stamps, the curl in Garbo's hair that covers her right eye is different in each design, showing that the two portrait engravings are slightly different in addition to the denominations and text.

scifi7 - Thanks!

A star behind the camera: Georges Méliès (1861-1938) was a French illusionist and filmmaker famous for leading many technical and narrative developments in the earliest days of cinema. Méliès, a prolific innovator in the use of special effects, accidentally discovered the substitution stop trick in 1896, and was one of the first filmmakers to use multiple exposures, time-lapse photography, dissolves, and hand-painted color in his work. Because of his ability to seemingly manipulate and transform reality through cinematography, Méliès is sometimes referred to as the first "Cinemagician."

Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Georges Méliès, and the giant cannon "launch" scene from one of his most famous films, the science fiction/fantasy classic A Trip to the Moon (1902), designed and engraved by René Cottet, and issued by France on March 13, 1961 to commemorate Méliès's birth centenary, Scott No. 987, Y&T No. 1284.

Aleksandër Moisiu (aka Alexander Moissi, 1879-1935) was an Austrian actor of Albanian ancestry. In Albania Moisiu is venerated as the nation's greatest actor, and the drama school of the Academy of Music and Arts in Tirana as well as the university and the city theater of Durrës were named after him. Although known primarily as a stage actor, Moisiu did appear in one German silent drama movie entitled Die Nacht der Königin Isabeau ("The Night of Queen Isabeau," 1920), which is now considered a lost film. Here are images of the two similar stamps in a set featuring a portrait of Moisiu, printed by lithography, and issued by Albania on April 20, 1960 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the actor's birth, Scott Nos. 555 & 556, plus a photo of Aleksandër Moisiu in 1906.
