In 2002 Luxembourg issued a set of two "Cultural Anniversaries" stamps. The low value "A" domestic rate stamp, shown here, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Festival of Wiltz, in the northwest of the country. A cello and a bass appear on the right side of the stamp.

Stamp issued to commemorate legendary jazz guitarist Jean Baptiste "Django" Reinhardt (1910-1953) on the 40th anniversary of his death, in 1953. Although born in Belgium, he spent most of his life, albeit a nomadic one, in France. He was largely self taught on the guitar. He was very badly burned in a terrible fire when he was 18 years and lost the use of two of the fingers on his left (or fretting) hand. Despite this handicap he became one of the all-time great jazz guitarists, and influenced generations of musicians who followed his style.
