Here are images of the four stamps in a set depicting European honey bees (
Apis mellifera) collecting nectar from various flowers (respectively, apple blossom; blooming heather; rape blossom; and red clover), designed by German artist Ursula Abramowski-Lautenschläger (1939- ), printed by lithography, and issued by East Germany (DDR) on January 9, 1990, Scott Nos. 2787-90, Michel Nos. 3295-98. Note: These stamps incorrectly indicate the name of this species as "
Apis mellifica L." Apis mellifica is in actuality a homeopathic remedy prepared from the Western or European honey bee, and is NOT the scientific name of this species!
