Did someone tear the pages out?
It is A4 Scott #26 valued at 20 cents in my 82 catalogue.
Maybe 30-50 cents now?
Nice socked on the nose cancel.

Still 20c in 2002. I think his missing pages are in my catalogue.

Pretty colour though.
I'm only familiar with the 5c ultra.

Scott rearranged the worldwide catalog in 1998. Before then, US/UN and British Commonwealth were in Volume 1. The rest of the world in alphabetical order in the other volumes.

In 1998, Scott put all the non-US/UN together in alphabetical order, much to the dismay of British Commonwealth collectors -- in effect trying to force them to buy the entire catalog set.

Your Chile pages are not missing in your 1978 Scott catalog. They are simply in Volume II.

certainly am...haha! you see bob...Im still new at this and do not make certain automatic connections as of yet....I'll soon unserstand, I'm sure of it! I often times find things in my collection I don't find right away on a google search or quick catalogue scan. I then run to my SCF friends for pretty much instant assistance. Love it here :) Thanks for the help! ~Ash

In 1979 the appropriate volume would likely say "countries of the world" A-G

EDIT: WOW This thread is moving too fast for me!

BTW I make that mistake all the time -- saying to myself, where did that country go? OH, I'm in the British Commonwealth Volume, or OH, It must be a British Commonwealth country cause its not here in Vol III.

You are welcome, Ash. I agree, it can get very confusing. I didn't jot down notes back then (I didn't have a computer -- at least not the kind you can put on a desk). But I believe Volume II went from A-F; that's taken from memory. If you look at one of the first few pages in your catalog, or maybe near the index at back, there should be a list of the catalog volumes for 1978 and the range each volume covers.

To make things easy, when I am ready to look up a stamp from a country that I am not too sure of. I first go to any of the Scott Cats and go to the back pages where they list the countries in alphabetical order and they tell you what volume they are in. If they give you a page number, that means that it is in the volume you have.

And, if the page number turns out to be wrong, then you know they forgot to update that page number from last year's index! Yes, it does happen , but fortunately not very often. If it does happen, you can usually still find the right page by looking at the dozen or so pages that follow.

Great suggestion Bob of many g's! Even though I've collected for 4 decades, I still find the index very useful!
