I checked the missing postmarks of Tas, none of yours qualify, so normal as I can see it. I dont have a compendium for TAS so the numbers are unknown to me, interesting to see Georgetown as two words.
I like Tasmanian stamps for some reason, yours are OK You can flyspeck the windows on the 2d hobart issues LHS near waterline, to indicate litho or line engraved.

Much appreciated, Rod. Gives me a good starting point for revamping the collection. |

Nothing to do on a dull day? Everyone, I mean everyone has a Tasmanian stamp with LAUNCESTON CDS. They are as common as politicians. Get you album out and have a look for one with the code letter "D" There are only 4 known. I am not saying they are worth anything, but they are scarce. Update: "D" also scarce on HOBART CDSs as well. This one has code letter "L" |

Thanks Partime, some cancels were void of a code number, so that explains your first, but "PENGUIN" is fascinating it is missing something, I'll have to do a reconnoitre around Google. ...Penguin Island perhaps?
The second has no code letter, just a device called a "fleuron" The second is HOBART Also, punctured "T" for official use.
That is a VERY interesting PENGUIN there is a penguin PO, but the hammer seems to be unusual in that it is off centre Possibly a repair job, or a part time hammer a keeper.

Rod,
Thanks so much for your continual research and updates. Its a keeper. My daughter is on a walkabout in Broome for a school outing. I keep reminding her to bring home some stamps...we'll see how she does. |

Partime: Query Solved.....was PENGUIN CREEK "CREEK" was removed 31st October 1910 Now then, you either have a complete mystery (1901) or the CDS slug has been inverted
To a dedicated Tasmanian collector, that may be a real head scratcher.Oopsies, perhaps I read it wrong, creek was removed 2nd Jan 1901. |

Partime, we are not letting you off so lightly!
Back to the stamp please, we havn't finished with you yet....this is Philately!
Please advise...Watermark? Lithography? Typography?
HINT: Under the the "G" of PENGUIN, there is a factory building IF the building has 3 rows of windows = litho IF 2 rows =typography
What is the perforation?
Your 10c stamp may be worth 50 pounds. you have to dig.

PS measure perfs on all sides,
This stamp comes with a differing perforation on just one side. Also is the watermark upright, or sideways?
