Good to see this topic is still active. Lots of great stuff posted here since I posted on here a long time ago. Here's another one, an issue of 1972 to commemorate 25 years of Indian Independence.

I believe the first two shown here are the earliest depictions of flags on US stamps.

From my collection:

The first is Scott 119 showing Columbus landing in America. I guess those would be the flags of Spain?

The second is Scott 121 Eagle on shield with US flags on both sides. I consider this particular stamp the cornerstone of my collection.

The final image is that of Scott 231 ... the 2c Columbian. It depicts the same image as the Scott 119.

I'd like to see some US patriotic covers from the American civil war. Those are some of the most beautiful depictions of US flags in all of philately imo ...

Super Flags everyone, I am suitably impressed.
Are your Paraguay going up for sale Mr Lovell ?

Oh yes, nice Postcard too, pity some of the Chapel was damaged during the 1992 fire. It brings back memories, I worked for two years opposite the Castle and saw the Grand buildings every day.
