Thank you Cursus and Melic for such wonderful items and for the most interesting history lesson of Catalonia and beyond.

Truly inspiring, as is this thread.

A thread without equal here at SCF.

On behalf of the Community, thank you.

Thank you very much, Mike, for your nice words and continous suport since the begining of this thread 5 years ago.
When I started it in July 2011 encouraged by you, James and Rod, I could hardly imagine that it would reach the 84.000 readings milestone.
I, still can't understand how the cinderella production of an small country like Catalonia (32.000 sqkm / 7.5 milion) can be interesting for such a high level concurrence as the SFC's is. We do not often find people with such an open mind...

But, still, this is SCF!

Hi Mike.
I guess, it was to differentiate it from the blue cinderella that had a 0.10 pta overprint on the back. By 1943, 1 pta (=1/166 €), was a lot of money!

On July 19th 1936, it was scheduled the opening of the Barcelona Popular Olympiad, to face the nazi-manipulated 1936 Berlin Olympiad. Unfortunately, the fascist military upraising against Democracy on the streets of Barcelona, supressed this event.

As we've reached the 85.000 readings milestone, thank you very much to all of you, and we're in summer, I'm showing some Catalan beaches cinderellas.

Sitges (40 km S of Barcelona)a very nice place to go all the year around (better: September to June!)

Salou (110 km South of Barcelona). Now a place to be avoided by any sensitive pleople, all the year around. But it was nice by 1930's when the first cinderella was issued. By the way, I've never been there...

Sitges (40 km SW of Barcelona) May/June 1952 1st Philatelic Exhibition. Two cinderellas showing Sitges main beach and Santiago Rusiñol (Barcelona, Catalonia, 1861 - Aranjuez, Spain, 1931), painter and cultural activist, that boasted Sitges as seaside resort.
Text in Spanish, as it was compulsory by then.
