"Modern" (1960's) cinderellas of the roofing and pipping items company "Uralita", based in Cerdanyola (20 km from Barcelona). As they used asbestos, they're not longer in opperation. |

Hi Cursus (and everyone else) Thought you may be interested in this letter seal found on the back of a cover dated 1909 in Palamos Catalonia. Was wondering if you've ever seen one before. For interests sake, here are images of the entire cover, front and back |

Thank you James, a very interesting item. I, personally, won't call it a "cinderella", but an envelope closing label. In my view, a cinderella should want to commemorate or advertise something. But, I must say, I've a very restriced vision of what a "cinderella" is. Altough I understand that, this view, is not widely shared. |

Hi Cursus, I definitely agree it's not a cinderella. I tend to look at letter seals as a sort of offshoot of the whole label/cinderella genre. But when I realized where it was from, I thought of you and this thread, and thought you might be interested. |

Two early XXth century cinderellas, showing Barcelona Rambles. The boulevard where the criminal terrorists killed 13 people and injured more than 120 two days ago. But my fellow citizens keep on standing, fearless, free and open-minded. This days in Barcelona we say: "No tenim por!" in Catalan "We don't fear anything" ] |

Yesterday, 20 of us gathered on the town of Artesa de Segre (3000), 150 km West of Barcelona, to hold a little stamp exhibition, swapping some stamps, having lunch and chatting on our hobby interests up to late evening. As on October 1st, Catalonia is holding a referendum to break free from the kingdom of Spain, and most of us support this goal, the gathering promotor issued some cinderellas and sheets showing the Catalan Freedom Fight Flag, that we affectionaly call "Estelada" (the "starred one"). This flag inspired on the Cuban and the Texas ones, symbolizes the wish of Catalan people for setting our own republic. On the cinderellas and sheets (printed on a number of colours and papers)you can read "Free Catalonia, a new European nation" and a value in euro, as Catalans, also have a very strong European feeling. The mini-sheets, have also a phrase of our national anthem "The harvesters" and the statements that they were printed at Artesa de Segre and have no postage value. |
