Sounds like we need to take matters into our own hands and contribute to the World Stamp Catalog on Wikibooks: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/World_Stamp_Catalogue

We should be able to design an international numbering system.

Stamp Community member StampStudy has been working on a Stamp Wiki at:

http://www.stampsoftheworld.co.uk/w...of_the_World

Stamps of the World is an online stamp catalogue, no numbering system however.

Lots of pics already posted and as far as I know you are welcome to add info and pics yourself.

You can email to StampStudy or do it yourself if you know how. I have just emailed stuff in so far myself and have had a looooong rest of not doing anything but am interested again.

I think it would be nice if some numbering system was used so people could reference to it but most published catalogues are copyright protected against any other publishing except their own.
I believe StampStudy is on holiday at the monet.

Very cool stuff. It's a shame there is a duplicate effort going on. There should definitely be an "open-source" numbering standard of some kind.
