Under Mount Peca by train, on foot, by bike, and by kayak

The lead and zinc mine, which ceased operations in 1993, has since been transformed into a unique tourist attraction.
Visitors begin their journey aboard a train that travels 3.5 kilometers into the depths of the mine.
From there, the adventure continues on foot, exploring the underground passages.
For a more active experience, tourists can cycle through the mine shafts or paddle kayaks through sections that have naturally filled with crystal-clear water over the years.

120th Anniversary of the Postojna Cave Railway (post card)

The Postojna Cave railway, first opened in 1872, is the oldest underground cave railway in the world. Originally, cave guides manually pushed small carriages along the tracks to transport visitors through the horizontal passages. In 1924, the system was modernized with a gasoline-powered locomotive named Montania, dramatically increasing capacity and efficiency. Today, the electric cave train carries tourists through nearly 4 kilometers of stunning karst formations, making it one of Slovenia's most iconic attractions.
On postmark is Proteus anguinus, see post:
