Marigold Flowers (Tagetes erecta), issued by Laos on September 28, 2004:


Phakhouane:
The Sou-Khouane is an important Lao social ceremony aimed to unite with the Khouane ("Guardian Spirits"). A Phakhouane, a bowl with erected center made of Banana leaves decorated with flowers and candles, is used during the ceremony. The Phakhouane tied with blessed cotton strings that used for tying them on a person wrist while calling and blessing the Khouane. Marigold flowers are used to build the Phakhouane because of their beauty and erected shape as shown in this stamp:
