The stamp commemorates the 1914 flight by Silvio Pettirossi (1887-1916), a Paraguayan airplane pilot and aviation pioneer.

The stamp depicts the flight between Buenos Aires and Montevideo by Pablo Teodoro Fels (1891-1969).

This 2006 stamp of Bolivia commemorates the centenary of Brazilian Alberto Santos-Dumont's first successful heavier-than-air flight in his 14-bis biplane.

From Wikipedia, "Alberto Santos-Dumont (1873-1932) was a Brazilian inventor and aviation pioneer; one of the very few people to have contributed significantly to the development of both lighter-than-air and heavier-than-air aircraft...Santos-Dumont finally succeeded in flying a heavier-than-air aircraft on 23 October 1906, piloting the 14-bis before a large crowd of witnesses on the grounds of Paris's Chateau de Bagatelle for a distance of 60 meters (197 ft)."

On April 10, 2003 Germany issued this semi-postal charity stamp (Mi. #2331) to benefit philately in the country. The stamp's theme is 75th anniversary of the first east-west North Atlantic flight. The flight was made by Hermann Koehl, Ehrenfried Guenther Freiherr von Huenefeld, and James C. Fitzmaurice on the 12th and 13th of April, 1928 in a Junkers Vu33 nicknamed Bremen.

From flyingireland.com website, "The departure from Baldonnel (Ireland) was at 0538 GMT. After 36 1/2 hours the aircraft landed on frozen ice at Greely Island in Quebec...Blanc Sablon is the nearest point marked on most regional maps."
