Sell something and try to leave a negative for the buyer

You got that right Bobby131313. Just had a bad experience of someone not paying for a item gone on for 3 weeks I went to leave neg feedback but can only leave a positive. Well I left a positive feedback with a very negative comments like buyer wont pay for items etc etc.
Feedback is for the buyer not seller.
Maybe we should have a thread on bad buyers that bid win and don't pay.
As a seller I leave feedback with in a day of reciving payment. and as a buyer I leave feedback once I recive the item not before.

I haven't yet tried to sell on ebay so I can't speak from personal experience but in reviewing ebay's "Customer Support" information it seems an appropriate course of action in irishjack's case would have been to attempt to contact the buyer and, if payment was still not received, to open an unpaid item case within the 4- to 32-day window. It seems to me that the potential flagging of a buyer's ebay account for unpaid items would have greater impact than just giving negative feedback.

Unpaid item policy overview

When a buyer wins an item or uses Buy It Now to purchase an item, they're obligated to complete the purchase by sending full payment to the seller.

If a buyer doesn't pay within 4 days, sellers can open an unpaid item case in the Resolution Center. If the buyer still doesn't pay or reach some other agreement with the seller, ebay may record the unpaid item on the buyer's account.

When an unpaid item case closes without payment from the buyer, sellers are eligible to receive a final value fee credit to their ebay seller account. Also, if they relist the item and it sells the second time, ebay may refund the insertion fee for the relisting. Learn more about how the free relist policy works.

Excessive unpaid items on a buyer's account may result in range of actions, including limits or loss of buying privileges.

After reading about the sellers that have been given negative feedback by buyers area in ebay's forum I decided very early in the piece "that the buyer is always right" policy is the only approach.

We never contact a buyer about an unpleasant issue like not paying.

We never contact a buyer to ask for feedback to be left.

We never ask for a positive feedback to be changed because it says something negative.

We never reply to a rant if it does not need answering.

If a rant needs to be answered we wait a few days so the person hopefully has calmed down.

We never try and refuse a refund.

We are always polite etc

After about 18 month we have 4 people who have not payed and 2 people who have payed but we can not find them.

This one will make you laugh. On the 1st of June I bought an LP on ebay. I paid by paypal that very day. I received no acknowledgment and the item never showed as having been dispatched, but I decided to wait patiently.
I received an email from the ' ebay cyborg of doom' last night saying I was being reviewed for non payment of this very item.
The email was a 'do not reply' type. There is no email address on ebay. There is no telephone number on ebay.
Not all problems are caused by buyers!!

So I drove 50 miles to a record fayre in Cleethorpes this morning and bought the same LP for 1/6th of the price.

Why do we worry so much about ebay, the alternatives are much better.

Who can the disgruntled user turn to when the corporation is getting so big?

I buy and sell on ebay. It is important to leave feedback(feedbags as a friend calls them). ebay makes the most money of all on their platform. If you can help someone by giving a feedback for them to achieve a better status and get a discount, why not. It should be earned. It bothers me when a seller doesn't leave the feedback first. The buyer did his or her job by bidding and paying, the least the seller could do is acknowledge it by giving the feedback first. That's my pet peeve. If the seller delivers and all is good I'll overlook it. It does make me think the seller has been having problems.

I have a friend who has been leaving feedback in Borsovian for 4 years now and it has never been questioned. So my question has to be what use is feedback if no one ever reads it?

You can gather from this that Borsovian is not a broadly spoken language!!

Feedback to me seems to be a basic form of saying thank you, both to the buyer and the seller. It is a shortened form of sending a thank you note by mail (old days) or email (now). It is basically being friendly.
