Wine, Beer, & Spirits On Stamps

Lovely stamps here! Though not a stamp, I was attracted to this rum label which I noticed recently...

This 2011, 50c. issue of private courier Post Modern of Dresden, Germany depicts the trademark image of Radeberger pilsner beer. Advertising is sometimes an additional source of income for private mail couriers.

tasty white wine, mainly Grüner Veltliner.

On November 25, 2003 the Netherlands released this water-activated "star" stamp (Mi #2177) with a larger label showing a man holding a glass of champagne. This personalized December "discount" stamp was an addition to the usual discount stamp sheet of self-adhesive stamps of similarly-styled red and yellow images.

2003 was at, or near the peak of the personalized stamp rage/fad. Honestly, the Netherlands's personalized stamps don't seem to fit the definition of personalized. All of these stamps that I have seen show this man holding a glass of champagne, and unless you know him, there is nothing personal. Unless I am mistaken, there was no printing to private order, and unless you wrote on the label, it is not personalized. End of rant.

Here are two of the 1.30 DM value (Mi #669) from Berlin's 1975-82 "Industry and Technology" series used as franking on a registered, philatelic cover bearing the special cancel of Nuernberg's BRAU 82 Show, a trade show for the brewing and beverage industry. Both the stamps and the cancels bear an image of huge copper tins used in the baking/fermentation process of brewing beer.

On February 3, 2007 Latvia issued this 10 santims stamp as a part of its Municipal Coats of Arms series. The grapes on the coat of arms refer to the long tradition of winemaking in Sabile. Sabile (pop. 3220) is located in the Abava Valley in western Latvia.

From wikipedia, "The Sabile Wine Hill used to be the most northern open-air vineyard in the world, registered in the Guiness Book of Records. The winemaking tradition in Sabile dates back to the 16th century."

I expected to see something here regarding Wine or Spirits revenue stamps, but I guess I chose the wrong topic. Nice collection of items, though.
