The wind-rattle of Prlekija

The wind-rattle is a traditional mechanical device crafted entirely from wood,
designed to protect vineyards by scaring off birds with its distinctive clattering sound.
When birds attempt to peck at ripening grapes, the wind-rattle springs into action, producing a rhythmic noise that keeps them at bay.
This ingenious tool is most commonly found in northeastern Slovenia, particularly in the regions of Haloze,
Slovenske gorice and Prlekija—areas known for their rolling hills, rich winemaking heritage, and charming rural landscapes.
