Auction Houses in Australia or New Zealand that have a finishing day and not a public auction component should be avoided with great fear.

When looking at the top end of auction houses in Australia and they are continuing to be able to supply heaps of very good stamps that sell well. Then we can say that auction house is very obviously, health and is doing the right thing by the seller and the buyer. So it is easy to say that this is an honest business.

The auction houses that are continuing to list the same rubbish auction after auction with very little new stock being listed would suggest that there is something very wrong with that auction house as buyers and selling have lost a trust to buy from that auction house or sell through them.

This would be that same through out the stamping world as we know it.

Hi, KGV. No the stamps (most of which are on paper) have cancels, but they are neither legible nor complete. So if the cancel is legible, it will be cut off at point or the stamp will be damaged, and if it's complete, it will be blurry. So far, my only complete, legible cancel - apart from Perth GPO - is from Queanbeyan. (I've been through this lot so many times now that I don't expect to find even one more.) So my conclusion is that the lots are simply someone else's discarded waste.

Sorry to put you through that jimjamtwo!

That kiloware is worse than horrible.

I will never go near that dealer again.

I too have had trouble with that dealer. The lack of experience scared me off a couple of years ago. After understanding what has truly been done to you by ACE I can not understand why he is still a stamp dealer.

As I go through heaps of 1940's to 1966 kiloware I will keep you in mind. In January I will know what I have and not have. There is 15 years of storing to do. Must be 30 to 50kgs of it. Should be able to find something for you.

That's very kind of you to offer, KGV. Clearly, you've been buying kiloware much longer than I have, and you've probably picked up some good stuff along the way. I have a feeling the sources are starting to dry up now. I' be very surprised indeed if there were many unexploited hoards of stamps yet to be found in this country!

In any case, if anyone has any stamps they don't want, if they are reasonably productive of postmarks - it doesn't matter what country - I would be keen to arrange a swap, if at all possible. I'm something of a postmark fiend, and I love to spend hours identifying placenames and so on.

jimjamtwo,

I bought some kiloware off ebay that has some nice postmarks/cancellations. It is off-paper (mostly) world-wide but no U.S. You can see an example in this thread that I posted https://goscf.com/t/28109.

Once I'm done sorting, I might be interested in trading, or you can buy your own sample from the seller.

stampcoder, thanks for the offer. Trading is probably all I'm up for at the moment, as I've blown my stamp budget for quite a while to come.
