This 2005 domestic postcard rate commemorative stamp (Mi. #2494) of Germany depicts a line of horse-drawn wagons from the 1850's. It celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Leonhardi Chapel Street Procession in Bad Toelz, Bavaria. Bad Toelz is on the Isar River in Upper Bavaria. From deutsche-alpenstrasse.de website, "Tens of thousands of visitors come to Bad Toelz for traditional festivals like the Leonhardifahrt, where splendidly decorated horses and carriages form street processions in early November."  |

On November 14, 1957 India issued a set a three stamps for Children's Day. The high value 90 paise stamp (Sc #294) depicts a Bankura horse. From Wikipedia, "Bankura horse is the terra-cotta horse, produced in Panchmura village in Bankura district in the Indian state of West Bengal...Originally used for village rituals, it now adorns drawing rooms across the world as a symbol of Indian folk art."  |

On May 21, 1985 Denmark issued this pair of stamps (Facit #s 866-7) to commemorate the 900th anniversary of Canute the Holy's gift to the see in Lund. The two kroner stamp shows Canute before Lund Cathedral, and the three kroner value depicts him approaching Helsingborg.  |
