khj, I tried to send you a SCF e-mail, but I'm too new. (Would have been nice to know that before I typed the whole thing.)

Anyway, I don't have a catalog yet but would like to pick one up on ebay. You mentioned that since the 1980s the Scott's Specialized doesn't differentiate between Mr. Zip logo or zip text, so my question is should I try to get an older one to start with?

What I meant is that for stamps issued in the 1980's and onward, Scott US Specialized does not specifically state what kind of Zip block. It does describe for most of the pre-1980 zip blocks.

I think we've all had this happen to emails/posts at one time or another. For your future reference, you can hit your browser back button to retrieve the text and then copy the text. Of course, once you close the tab/window/browser, then it's lost forever.

Ah! So it sounds like I would be best served to get the newest one I'm able to afford, which is what I was originally planning to do.

And thanks for the tip about being able to retrieve the text!

In the USA, July 1 is Zip Code Day!

Here is an image of a Mr. ZIP block of four of a stamp depicting "Mallards Dropping In," adapted by Donald M.McDowell from original artwork by Jay N. "Ding" Darling (1876-1962), engraved by John S. Wallace, Jr. (1923- ), and issued by the USA on July 2, 1984, Scott No. 2092.

I always liked the Zip Code fellow. I recently started saving Zip Code singles in case someone wanted them. Here are the ones I have so far.
