I'd suggest you upload it to an online virus scanning program and see if it passes or fails. Could be a false positive.
A second opinion follow up to your original post would be useful for everyone.

I've got an e-mail from LB1, without subject. I opened it and used my "Mal-ware detection tool". Nothing wrong found, so far.

I got one too, I have emailed him about it. I don't know if the link in the email is harmful or not, but either way his email seems to have been hijacked to send the rogue emails.

I also received the email and checked it - the referenced link does in fact have a virus attached.

I also received the email. I did not open it. I am very wary of that type of e mail. especially as it had no subject. Has anyone contacted Londonbus?

It's not a virus. Someone hacked my email account. I changed the password and it seems to be OK now.

I will be asking our family computer expert to check to see if anything else is amiss !

Not a good year so far and getting worse......

Sorry chaps.

It happens to (almost) everyone at some point -- especially if they use a webmail like Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.

No worries.

Yes it is quite common and I have on numerous occasions had to ask the same questions you have all been asking when a friend's computer is in trouble.

On this occasion, my computer security detected something called win32NAV and quarantined it. It has now been deleted and sent back to China....er...Cyberspace !

Once again, sorry for the blips !

Just one word of advice....NEVER open emails like this one. Especially with no subject line. I ALWAYS write something in the subject line...ALWAYS ! Better to delete and contact the sender seperately.

Happens to us all LB. My husband has had hundreds of Mail Returned emails this week, someone/thing has been sending emails from his account, and he's just getting the ones that have bounced back as undeliverable.
Sorted now, but just an annoying fact of cyberlife.

One thing I did years ago is GET RID OF "Address Book" in Outlook Express, so that no virus or malware can enter my system and get sent to everyone I know. I keep my email addresses in a Word document, with an icon on my Desktop. Takes a little longer, but it's safe. I also use disposable emails (in Gmail) for CraigsList, etc, which has turned into a real snake-pit; I probably get a dozen spurious emails a week through their system.

The other thing you can do is get away from email providers like Hotmail, Yahoo mail and those sorts. Stick with Gmail as it seems to have the best security. Is it perfect ? no, but it is generally better than the others.

And to think, I got all excited when I saw the email thinking that perhaps you were notifying us of another sale, but much to my dismay it was an advert for Viagara............
