I think that's a very fair email. Nothing offensive or agressive, just polite and strightforward. Hope it gets you a result!

For anybody interested I received the refund I requested of £3.25, which I (and presumadely the seller) both felt was fair. He was very polite and professional about it, and I can recommend dealing with him.

I've had a couple items that I sold returned to me because they were fake. In each case it was something I had little expertise in and I simply didn't recognize them as anything but legit. I was happy to return their money and then picked their brains in order to learn how to recognize fakes or reproductions in the future.

Glad this worked out. For future reference, and others reading along, you should not mention feedback when trying to resolve an issue like this. ebay may consider it to be feedback extortion. See their policy here:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies...tortion.html

Hypothetically, had the seller refused to refund, and you left negative feedback, ebay could have removed it based on this policy, resulting in a lose/lose situation. Unethical sellers (which does not apply here) know how to work this policy.

new12collector I'm happy that this all worked out for you. I'm always weary of new sellers that I haven't used before but on occasion they work out great! for example-

OldCrow74! Holy smokes I just bought some awesome stuff from you this week. I actually wrote a new positive feedback message as I normally don't but I do always leave feedback. Anyways Thanks again!
I'm -eljeffoantiquescoins on ebay or ILS on here.

It was the "1859 New York Cover SC #24 (3)"

ILS, glad you like it. It was a nice cover and I was kind of sorry to see it go.
