I wish Amos would take a page from Yvert et Tellier and provide online catalog subscriptions. They have the technology they use for Linn's Stamp News, just apply that to the catalogs for a yearly subscription (be it for one catalog up to the entire set plus classic and specialized). I would think they'd make up more than they would lose in lower sales of the hard copy catalogs, and it would allow those of us who are NOT enthralled to the Apple Empire to be able to have digital access to catalog information.

I agree they need to diversify beyond iPad. My biggest issue with them is that they can't seem to get Linn's in a mobile/tablet friendly format. I've not used it but I hear the Scott App is pretty decent.

PHILB----try doing the math ,250 -400 sets for dealers and auction houses ,maybe another 400 for libraries ,4,000 for collectors in the U.S. 1,000 overseas and the rest 1200 misc. Remember the 7,000 from the previous year are still actively being used by dealers and collectors ,its only when they are three years old does the need to replace them for active users.

Like phone books, I have a feeling that Scott will just fade away as people realize that they can get all the information they need online for free.

If they were smart, they would put remove all the IGPC wallpaper and put them in their own catalog. Those issues seem to fill half the space these days.

For many countries stamp issuing is just a way to get hard currency. In case like that many of those stamp issues are never been use for mailing but are intend for collectors. The reason why the are listed in Scott is because they could be use for postage but I think most of them are not available at postal counter of there issuing country. Maybe Scott should list only stamps that show strong evidence of being postaly used. But then it would contribute to destroy the stamp issuing business for many poor country. If all collectors only collect used stamps not CTO, it would have the same effect. Now I understand why many collector concentrate on classical stamps. In those days there was no wallpaper issuing countries like Grenada.
