I've never considered the $5 Columbian particularly attractive- no doubt because I knew I could never afford one.

But the "Bluenose" on the other hand....

Actually, I think beauty and cost are two separate variables. I really like the 1928 Scott C11 5c carmine and blue "Beacon on Rocky Mountains" stamp- and that is 75 cents used.

I also lke the Canadian Chalon portrait on the 12p black (a beutiful pair is coming up for sale at the next Bringham auction according to the Canadian stamp news

I don't need to ever worry about affording one copy of the 12d black, never mind a pair. But I've just picked up a nice specimen copy of the 12d black at the last Vance auction - it should be waiting for me when I get back home in a couple of days. That will have to satisfy the empty space in my album, it certainly won't ever be replaced with a $250,000 copy, or whatever the catalogue value is for that one now ...
