ebay is forcing you to do anything... why would you want to display to countries that you don't want to ship to? And ebay doesn't force you to ship for free to anyone, just put a price in for the countries and you're done. Most ppl go on ebay look for specific items or sort by ending soonest or cheapest. In that case you don't have to worry about showing up for relevance.

Not quite. If you want to ship worldwide and select countries you don't want to ship to, (which you would be wise to do given the reputation some countries have for 'losses in the post'), then those preferences will be visible. No choice regarding that. The other option I have found on the 'easy' listing page is to select 'Ships to the UK and the following countries', but then there is the tedious business of selecting all the countries you will ship to from the drop down menus. Nothing straightforward about the bay.

But you don't have to do it for every listing... just once. Set the list in your ebay account preferences and that becomes your default set of countries you ship to, which you can then override as needed on a listing-by-listing basis.

Well yes, I did that, and it still missed 2 out of 20 listings. When I tried to correct this on the bulk edit I wasn't allowed to unless I signed the bay's International Selling Agreement, which I had already done before listing. Nothing straightforward about the bay.
