Trainwreck is correct. I am at work now, but when I get home tonight I will see if I have a whole card of that delivery company and post. There are a large number of these private delivery companies. Most operated in and around Berlin. There were a few outside of that area as well. Michel has a catalog that lists the whole bunch should anyone want to go look one up. |

Sorry. I don't have a lot of these German Private Post items. Couldn't find one that matched your item. Oh well, I did remember to look! |

A postal card of the WW1 "American Monument" in Château-Thierry. The monument was dedicated on the American Memorial Day, 30/May/1937. The postal card: - bears indicia which is a detail from the monument; - was postmarked a few months later, on 20/Oct/1937, either at the monument or in the nearby town; - bears the slogan cancel: "INAUGURATION OU MONUMENT AMERICAIN"; - is GPU (Genuinely Postally Used) (my preference). Not bad for a bargain box reject ;) Q/ Any thoughts on the meaning of "COTE 204"? Cheers, /s/ ikeyPikey http://francerevisited.com/2011/11/...-wwi-sights/ ... this photo shows that the postal card artist took liberties! Speaking of 'Liberty', one woman represents France, and one woman represents America ... who's who? Edited to add: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciX...RYYvrb6LKMIg ... The Chateau-Thierry American Monument Dedication is one of thirteen segments featured in the "America Honors Her Heroes" film. The film is the Official Record of the Dedication Ceremonies in 1937 at the American World War Memorials and Cemeteries in Europe. It was taken under the auspices of the American Battle Monuments Commission. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3...can_Monument"COTE 204" = "HILL 204" |

I'm interested in starting to collect postal stationary, but it seems like the Higgins & Gage catalog is out of print? What is the best way to source this catalog. I know the prices are not relevant but just as a guide to what is out there up to the late-60s to early-80s would be a great place to start. |

Ikey: Your card was issued in 1937 and has a Michel number of p-69. It had a 17.50 Euro value back in 2000 when I got my last catalog. Good find! DJCMHOH: You can find H&G catalogs on ebay every now and then. The entire catalog would be expensive to say the least. There really isn't anything else that covers the spectrum. Many countries can be found from local publishes within that country. Michel issues 2 volumes conatining all Europe (EAST & WEST). If you are doing US or CAnada, there are many catalogs out there. Hope this helps somewhat. |

Quote: Quote: I have a Cut Postal Card which has me puzzled, no country listed, across the top it looks like STADT and across the bottom I make out VERKEHR, this is brown on salmon Seems to be a Germany local package delivery stamp. The company name is "[something] Packetfahrt - A-G." I don't know enough about these locals to provide any more info. I find them interesting though. Robert Edit: Could the [something] be "Berl."(i.e., Berlin)? Yes, this is from the company "Packetfahrt Berlin", used on postal cards, wrappers and envelopes from 1894 to 1896. There is a 4-volume catalog of German private post stationary, "Ganzsachenkatalog der deutschen Privatpost" by Horst Müller (who also edited the Michel private post stamp catalog). |

Here are a couple of New Zealand "Formular" airmail letter sheets. I do not know how many different ones there are, but here are the 2 I have. These letter sheets were issued in 1977. Item #1: (clockwise from upper left corner) Anzac Park, Nelson; Russell; Mt Maunganui; Cathedral Square, christchurch; Mt Cook. Item #2: )clockwise from upper left corner) Lake Diamond, Otago; Wainui Beach, Gisborne; Mt Shewell, Marlborough; Whangarei Falls; Auckland Harbour Bridge. Pretty place! |
