ikeyPickey: according to Higgins & Gage, you have one of "Views of Panama in blue, green or brown on back of card, 25 different in each color" (catalog #18) issued in 1939. Hope that aids in your identification. Thanks for sharing this. I hadn't seen this before. Wonder what the rest look like?

Thank you, PoStat4evR.

The absence of a caption on the address side of the card was what led me to think that they might have been after-market images.

I'll keep my eyes open for the rest of them ;)

Cheers,

I am not an expert, but would call the town cancel part a " towncancel" and the part on the stamp a "killer". They were two separate handstamps. This was a common practice in the early part of the United States postal usage history. Nice cancel you have. There is a local stamp club up there in Caldwell that might be more helpful. I am sure there are people on this forum that are more qualified to answer your question than I am as well.

That little beauty (the killer, that is) deserves a HiRes scan & its own thread (here in World Covers).

Rosette?

I would call the CDS (Circular date stamp) with the Caldwell the postmark and the fancy killer the cancel. This particular cancel is also known as a Wheel of Fortune.

In this image is a smaller Canadian wrapper, called a post band, uprated to travel to England. Above it is a letter card, also uprated.

Some more Canadian post bands.

A used 1898 #PB6

and an unused 1930-32 #PB21. This is printed on kraft paper. There is another version - PB21a - printed on manilla paper

And while we're at it, here's another letter card, #UL5 issued 1900.

Re https://www.stampcommunity.org/uplo...rtycardr.jpg ... I rather like the return address, and find it surprising that we do not see these more often, as local businesses often agreed to receive & hold mail, especially if you were new in town & renting nearby. cheers,
