The Seventh Regiment was a famous Infantry group known as "The Silk Stocking" Regiment during the Civil War, so much of the NYC elite were members. The Seventh Regiment Armory is still on Park Ave between 66th and 67th streets, and is a well known landmark. This was not the site of the famous NY "Armory" stamp shows of the 50's and 60's, that was also on Park Ave but at 34th street around the corner from the Collector's Club. Alas, that building is long gone.
