Hi, if anyone could shed some light to what this stamp is and its value please, Im not going to sell it as I have had it for about 2 years now, This stamp is my first stamp that has got me hooked to this hobby, I know this stamp is worthless to the serious stamp hobbyist, but for me this is the stamp that has started my stamp hobby journey! I will upload a picture in about 10 minutes, sorry I do not have a scanner and will have to take the photo on my mobile, Thankyou all in advance! Hope you have a great day ahead!

Just a guess, but I am going to say it is a Ukrainian stamp based on the coat of arms located in the top center behind the "Y.N.N" overprint.

Good morning, TurboJay!

According to the Scott catalogue, this stamp was created in 1923 by the Ukraine government, who was exiled in Warsaw, for the purposes of a "field post" during a planned invasion of the Ukraine. The invasion never happened and the stamps never used.

Welcome to SCF!

Brian

turbo,

Welcome to the board. Glad I could be a little help, but Riley was the one who did the hardcore research and was able to formally identify what it is you have. If you stay in the hobby, you will be able to shortcut and narrow down ID's based on appearances, languages, and symbols on the stamps. Just takes time and exposure to various stamps. Definitely a cool stamp you have here.

Hi knuppster59,
I guess it will just be a learning curve for me, im not sure what stamps I currently like, I guess I have the stamp bug so anything will do, I have lots of wildings to check for watermarks and g lines, If there is a way to add you to my friends list if I have one? if not then just stay in contact with me, also I do not have or never have owned a stamp catalogue, I will go out and buy an older version of one soon, the GB one I think as I mainly have them at present, im here for the long haul as the stamp bug has taken over now ;) Hope you have a lovely day ahead, Take care and all the best,
Turbo

Kind words, indeed! You identified the stamp as Ukraine - something I was unable to do by myself. Scott catalogue did the rest!

This is the only reason I knew it was possibly Ukrainian

TJ,

I am unaware of a friend list on this site. Not saying there isn't one, just that I haven't seen it yet. Catalogues are a great investment and older ones can be had a great discount. Trust me when I say there are a lot of smart people on this board. You will learn a ton from them. I learn something new almost everyday on here.

At the top row of navigation buttons:
-- choose "My SCF"
-- then click on the "Friends" link in the list
-- add/remove friends as needed

I think most of us do not use the Friends feature, but that doesn't mean we're not friendly.

Here's that stamp without overprint, not issued in 1920 as part of a set of 14 stamps.
