There are none (Hobby Shops)within 75 miles of me but my Son lives a couple miles from one so I can have him get them for me amd bring them up or I can get them when I go down to his house.

I am busier than all get out right now trying to set up the shop and work my real job after...I was kicking the idea around for the last 5 years or so, and it is opening in a couple weeks. Not much to really start with but I have my own collections to stock it initially. Stamps, models, Hot wheels, and a few other hobbies eventually. things I like and enjoy as hobbies. The main focus is stamps and model building and getting the young interested in these old school hobbies and coaching them along.

Wt1,
Thanks for the picture! I haven't seen a Lepage spreader in years. It brought back a lot of childhood memories.

On a more practical note, for those of you who haven't seen a mucilage glued stamp, if you see amber/brown "glue" on an older collection, most likely it is mucilage.
The stamps can usually be soaked off. For the real stubborn ones I use "Bestine." It is a solvent that is commonly used to remove glue. (N-Heptane is the active ingredient). It works well on self-adhesives too.

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.

I have used Bestine and second its effectiveness. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby. It is a little pricey for the quantity and it will evaporate at a very high rate. Keep it tightly closed when not in use.
