Just saw an advertisement for this right on this site. http://www.wascpod.comBooks are available print on demand and as PDFs from Lulu.com. The US PDF is $4.08. The Print on Demand Paperback is around $19. I am going to assume they're not using Scott numbers. At $4.08 for the PDF, I may just get it to check it out. My collecting needs are not as advanced as some collectors, so I probably would not be the right person to review it. I'm hoping someone with more advanced needs could review a copy... Off I go to spend $4.08... :-)

Since I'm all about competition and free markets, I'd like to see how this stacks up to Scott. The file size is 378 MB, so it's not small. I don't want to take away the guys bread and butter, so I'll post 2 screen shots of pages from the catalog. Does anyone have any requests for US stamp pages you would like to see posted. Going to take 12 more minutes to finish the download. If they list prices, then we can compare against ebay and Bidstart and see how accurate they are compared to the current market. |

A look at their 'Trans-Mississippi Exposition' stamps page would be nice, please.

Quote: It would be interesting to hear what they offer that stampworld (free) don't Can you get a PDF to stick on a computer or tablet, or is Stampworld completely online. This is where things suck. There is obviously competition out there for the Scott catalog. But everyone seems to be trapped in the Scott numbering system, which they defend to the fullest extent of the law. We are long overdue for universal catalog numbers. |

Maybe these guys make catalogs for Mystic and other stamp companies and decided to release their own product. |

So, it appears the PDF is just a bunch of very large static images, which means it is NOT searchable. Also explains the huge file size.
I'm going to need to OCR it. |

Hi apastuszak,
Thanks for putting that page up. I like the clear presentation. If it is an ebook PDF format is there much involved in applying OCR? I have this capability on my MAC but have never used it.

Stampworld is completely online. I can see your point about having everything at your findertips as PDF's. I prefer Michel catalogs myself (as do many Europeans). If only they would make a Worldwide 1840-1940 catalog... |

Well, they selling the eBook through Lulu. I wonder if Lulu can't handle the OCR.
I sent them an email. We'll see if they respond. |
